Information for Visiting Paddlers

Temporary membership form Guestbook

We enjoy meeting up and kayaking with fellow paddlers visiting Orkney.
Please get in touch via the club secretary.

OSKA is a small club with few club boats and so regular members have to be given priority with regard to boats and equipment.

Kayaking is an activity with attached risks – safety is paramount.
As with any kayaking trip, the leader will make the final decision about who joins the trip (having taken into account the weather, tides, equipment and skill mix).

OSKA is affiliated to the SCA (Scottish Canoe Association)
On an advertised OSKA trip, SCA 3rd party indemnity covers both individual SCA members and paid up members of OSKA.

1. Visiting SCA members with their own boats are welcome to join OSKA trips.
Contact details and other safety information should be completed in advance

2. Visiting paddlers who are not SCA members, but have their own boats, are welcome to join OSKA trips, after completing a temporary membership form and paying £1 for that membership year.
This is to ensure that everyone should be covered by the SCA indemnity.

3. Provided there is a boat available on the day, visiting paddlers wishing to use a club boat are welcome to join our club trips.
Temporary membership form and fee (£10 per head per trip) must be completed prior to the trip.

Please note that kayak hire is not available on Orkney.
