Forward Paddling:
Stretch and rotate right shoulder forward to place the right blade cleanly in the water alongside your feet
with the drive face facing backwards.
Draw blade backward while pushing forward with right foot
Take the blade out of the water just behind hips
Cock right wrist back
Stretch and rotate left shoulder forward to place the left blade cleanly in the water alongside your feet
with the drive face facing backwards.
Draw back again while pushing forward with left foot
Take the blade out of the water just behind hips
Paddling Points
- Body and pelvis tilted forwards
- Ensure that the paddle blade is fully submerged during active part of stroke.
- Opposite hand should be at eye level.
- The paddle shaft should be lightly and openly held rather than gripped tightly
