Mary
is a UKCC Level 2 coach, having undertaken her assessment in June 2011
and (finally) finished her paperwork in October 2011. She
is a 3* sea kayak
paddler and completed the 4* sea leader training with Gordon Brown in
March 2009 and again in April 2010. She hopes to undertake 4*
assessment in 2012. When not coaching, Mary can often be found trying
to play
canoe polo (without much success) and in real life, she is an
archaeological geophysicist and loves all things cartographic.

Lesley completed her UKCC
Level 2 coaching award with Steve MacKinnon in June 2011. Lesley holds the 3* sea kayak award and has done the 4* sea
leader training with Gordon Brown. Lesley
enjoys developing her Greenland rolling skills and hopes one day to
have her own Greenland style boat to go with her Greenland stick and her Norsaq. |

September 2009 and holds 3* sea kayak award. |

Kate completed her UKCC
Level 1 coaching course with Steve MacKinnon (Highland RCO) and John
Huxtable in September 2009. Having spent the summer training for 2*
canoe and kayak, she is keen to complete the award and upgrade her
coaching qualification to Level 1 boat based. Over winter and next
season, Kate is keen to start working towards her 3* sea award and the
UKCC Level 2 coaching certificate. |

Dennis
completed his UKCC Level 1 training in Inverness with Steve MacKinnon
and Mags Duncan in November 2009 and holds the 3* sea kayak award.
He loves camping trips and wishes he discovered kayaking when
he was younger! Away from kayaking, Dennis is a farmer.

Johnny is a BCU Level 2 coach and has been paddling for longer than he can
remember. He obtained the Sea Proficiency Test in 1992, 3* in
1993 and gained his Instructor award in 1994. He holds two
VHF radio certicates and completed the Basic Sea Survival, Day
Skipper and Maritime Inshore Rescue Station Member courses. He
enjoys exploring the fascinating Orkney coastline from his kayak and is
interested in helping anyone who wants to improve kayaking skills,
paddling with friends and enjoying sea kayaking and kayak surfing.

Kristian is
LCO (Local coaching organiser) for Orkney. It is his job to
oversee all coaching activities in the county. Kristian is
currently Orkney's only 4* leader. |

Peter is a
UKCC L2 trainee, having undertaken L2 training with Steve MacKinnon and
Dave Rossetter in March 2010. He undertook the UKCC Level 1
award with Steve MacKinnon in Inverness in April 2008. Peter
is a 3* sea paddler but doesn't like the cold! When not in a
boat, Peter can be found at home with his cat or working on ageing
cars. Peter hopes to undertake the 4* leader award, allowing
him to move on to his Moderate Water Endorsement. Peter needs to finish his L2 paperwork so he can get the award too! |
